Avoid at all costs

I was very happy with the fan up to the point of having to change the bulbs. As anyone would think, the process should be simple. You would expect to remove the globe , take out the bulbs, put the globe back on the fixture so it doesnt get broken sitting around the house, and then once you have purchased the bulbs, take off the globe to replace the bulbs. This is when you wish you had bought any other fan other than a Casablanca. The globe now does not come off but instead turns round and round without unlatching. I thought it was something that I was doing wrong so called in the help of a fitter that fits fans in for a living. He tries to remove the fan but notices that the entire fixture feels very loose (keep in mind this fixture is in my 2 year olds bedroom). We decide to take the fixture down and in closer inspection see that the entire content of the fan body moves as the globe is turned. Here comes the fun part - dealing with Casablanca Fan Co! This is what their website says "We build our fans to last. And then some. A Casablanca fan is the centerpiece of your ceiling—and a superior fan deserves a superior warranty. That’s why, when you choose Casablanca, your fan comes with a Comprehensive Warranty—the best and most extensive ceiling fan warranty available. Period. " This was the real experience: 1. Was told that I could be sent a new globe. Meaning, if the globe was to break as I try and take it off then I have a spare. 2. If the globe was put on at all unaligned, the globe will never come off and the fan is would not be covered. 3. If I wanted to have someone inspect the fan I need to call and schedule a service myself and then see if I have to pay the $100 call out fee or not. Alternatively, I could spend 2 hours driving into Brooklyn with a 2 year old to pop into a service center. When I explained that this really wasn't good enough I was told that I could send a good old fashioned letter by mail as they don't accept emails. Yay!! a trip to the post office.
